Create Products – Product Barcode

Introduction

Setting up barcodes allows users to use software and scanners that can recognize a barcode and quickly identify the product.

How to ‘Add Barcode’?

A. New Product

To begin adding a barcode for a new product, follow the following steps:

1. Head over to ‘Manage Products’ on the left side panel.
2. Using the dropdown menu, proceed by clicking on ‘Products’.
3. After step 2, click on the green ‘Add products icon’ on the right which will redirect into the ‘Create Product Page’.

B. Existing Product

To begin adding a barcode for existing products, follow the following steps:

1. Similarly, head over to ‘Manage Products’ on the left side panel.
2. Using the dropdown menu, proceed by clicking on ‘Products’.
3. After step 2, scroll to the right in the list of products until the action column, click on the pencil icon in the column where the barcode will be added to that product which will redirect the user to the ‘Update Product Page’.

C. Continuation

Either selection, users should continue by scrolling down until they reach the ‘Product barcode’ as shown below. There are 2 types of product barcodes namely ‘Fixed Barcode’ and ‘Weighing Machine Barcode’ which are further discussed below.

D. Fixed Barcode

1. For fixed barcode, click on  to add a barcode.
2. From here, the user should specify a sequence of numbers to be the product barcode.

E. Weighing Machine Barcode

For weighing machine barcodes, the following have to be keyed in:

1. Weighted Barcode

A sequence of numbers for the barcode position that could uniquely identify a product.

2. Indicator

Determines whether to include another digit after the last digit inside the barcode

3. Product barcode position from

Specifies from which position of the barcode number that would considered as the starting point for barcode position

4. Product barcode position To

Specifies from which position of the barcode number that would considered as the ending point for barcode position

5. Product barcode price from

Specifies from which position of the barcode number that would considered as the starting point for barcode price position

6. Product barcode price To

Specifies from which position of the barcode number that would considered as the ending point for barcode price position

After completing the inputs, the user shall continue by clicking on or cancel.
